Jordan Sokol

Jordan Sokol was born in Queens, New York. In his early twenties, he moved to Florence, Italy to receive a classical education in drawing and painting at The Florence Academy of Art. He spent the next decade there studying and teaching before moving to Madrid, Spain to open a private studio. In 2014 Sokol returned to the United States at the invitation of The Florence Academy of Art, to open their first U.S. branch in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he is currently the Academic Director. 

Sokol has taught drawing and painting workshops throughout the United States and Europe, including at the Gage Academy of Art (Seattle), the Canova Atelier (Rome), the Janus Collaborative School of Art (New York City), the Art Students League of New York, the Paris Academy, the Bo Bartlett Center (Columbus, GA), and the Lyme Art Association (Old Lyme, CT).

He has exhibited internationally, including at the National Portrait Gallery (London) as part of the BP Portrait Award 2015 exhibition. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including the two most recent books by Juliette Aristides. 

 Sokol is represented by Arcadia Contemporary (Pasadena, CA).
